AOC chapters and individual members need to be cognizant of and fully aware of the extensive benefits of AOC membership.

  1. Enhance professional skills. The AOC provides members with the latest updates on current issues in advanced technology in the field of electronic warfare and information operations. The AOC is at the forefront of industry and government activity. AOC members regularly obtain vital information to assist in their respective professions.
  2. Networking opportunities. The AOC provides members with unique networking opportunities with approximately 13,500 members throughout the US and internationally. AOC members represent a broad base of defense executives, senior military officers, corporate executives, and other key technical, acquisition, and resource management personnel. AOC members build a professional network through participation in AOC activities, whether social or professional. AOC members learn from colleagues in the AOC network of 69 chapters.
  3. A professional journal subscription. All AOC members receive a subscription to AOC’s highly respected monthly professional journal, The Journal of Electronic Defense (JED).
  4. Scholarship Programs. Through the AOC Educational Foundation (an IRS 501(c)(3) organization), AOC funds educational scholarships and enlisted tuition programs via local chapters.
  5. Leadership opportunities. AOC provides many volunteer opportunities for members to demonstrate leadership and management skills. AOC members can step forward and become elected chapter officials, national members of the AOC Board of Directors, and elected national officers. Members can serve as chapter committee members on special projects, as a committee chairperson, or write newsletter articles, recruit new members, or work on local chapter educational programs, all structured to expand your circle of friends and colleagues and share ideas.

Advanced Technology Educational Programs. AOC provides members with the opportunity to participate in educational programs through symposia, forums, seminars, conferences, and US and international conventions specifically designed for professionals in the field of electronic warfare and information operations. National AOC offers many professional development and educational programs for special interest areas. AOC chapters also host their own professional development programs, symposia, and meetings.
  7. Representation on Capitol Hill and the Pentagon. National AOC maintains an active government relations program designed to foster the interests of professionals and organizations in the field of electronic warfare and information operations. Additionally, the AOC conducts an annual “Capitol Hill Roundup”, which provides an opportunity for AOC members to visit Senators, Congressmen, and staffers to advance the association’s agenda in electronic warfare and information operations.
  8. Discount Programs. Members of AOC are entitled to reduced registration fees at all AOC sponsored meetings, seminars, symposia, conferences, and conventions, and discounts on all books, materials, and AOC memorabilia.

AOC members are recognized by their peers though various awards programs, including the AOC Gold Medal (the highest award given for outstanding advances and contributions in any or all fields of electronic warfare and information operations), the AOC Silver Medal, the AOC Life Achievement Award, and several others.
  10. Web-based online communications. The AOC maintains a first-class and highly informative Internet website,, which is a key mode of communications with the AOC membership. AOC is currently working on a new online initiative to allow members to update their personal profile via a secure password system, allow access to the membership database, register for meetings online, purchase materials online, and participate in online technology chat rooms.
