This is a follow-on to the 3/12/14 AOC EW Modeling and Simulation webinar.
The earlier webinar was focused on modeling the threat environment and discussed simulation for training and for test and evaluation at a top level. This webinar will briefly review the main points of this earlier webinar and will then focus on the emulation of signals at various points in an EW system.
Consider the testing of a subsystem before it is integrated into a full EW system: If the full system is on an aircraft in an engagement, what do signals look like when they enter that subsystem? Answering that question and evaluating the resulting subsystem response to those signals is the only way to assure that the subsystem will perform properly in the full system when full system integration is complete. There are complex timing issues that cannot always be evaluated against one signal at a time from simple test equipment. You don’t want to find out that a subsystem is in adequate during the final system test (sad experience speaking!).
